One of the questions we are regularly asked is ‘What is the difference between Rotary Polishers and Dual Action (DA) Polishers’. For those that are new to machine polishing, this is a very important question.
Dual Action (DA) Polishers
Dual Action polishers or DA’s as they are commonly known are the ideal type of polisher for someone new to machine polishing. As the name suggests they spin in two different ways, the head spins in a concentric circular motion connected to a spindle which in turn then spins in a wider circular motion. The result is a ‘wobble’ effect which prevents excess friction and heat build up. This makes DA’s the perfect detailing tool for the weekend warrior right through to the professional detailer.
Rotary Polishers
These are generally used by professionals or users with experience. They rotate on a single axis in a regular circular motion causing heat and friction build up allowing the user to carry out paintwork correction. Rotary polishers will remove paint work defects that Dual Action polishers cannot.
